Najma is a British-Bangladeshi, who joined her parents in the UK at junior school age from 1970s. She has had her fair share of challenges during her transition from the east to the west and has overcome many discriminations. Positive Thinking, Tolerance, Co- Existence, Promoting Peace, and Equality of Diverse Communities is her passion.
Najma is an established businesswoman and aspires to stand for future roles of Councillor or other roles that may be suitable and is seeking to overcome disability barriers. On a personal level Najma has had personal experiences of many cultural challenges and has worked through the challenges through sheer positive thinking and can do attitude in life and continued to develop in her career as a social worker to management. She is now a registered Freelance Independent Social Worker, Founder of an empowerment organisation called: ‘EPIC’ offering a variety of support services to a wide range of communities and workshops on PREVENT, Safeguarding to advice on women into property coaching and NLP mentoring and coaching.
Najma is registered disabled and has survived 4 road traffic accidents over the last 20 years at work resulting in invisible disability of chronic pain, osteoarthritis, muscular skeletal mobility and related conditions as a result of the accidents.
Since 1989 to 2015 Najma worked in local government adult and children’s services and hospital discharges team as a registered social worker & manager. Also has experience of owning rental and Recruitment and Training Business from 2009 to 2018.
Her voluntary and charity work includes, EPIC (not for profit org) Founder/ Director offering services, helping many people in need; Himaya Haven Community Interest Company (CIC) a service supporting probation sector and aftercare in the community; F4H – Fundraising for overseas for Rohingya communities displaced in Bangladesh; Police volunteer for ‘street watch’ Solihull and Birmingham; Inclusive leadership ambassador for WMCA Mayors programme; million mentors for Solihull college for 18-25yrs old, project by WMCA Mayors; School Co-opted Governor of Ladypool Junior school. Since Jan 2018 and had been Local Authority Governor for two other schools in the past decades; Committee members for Victim Support and JSJS Ltd Employment Training Centre in the 1990s; CWO Birmingham Area Chair, Diversity and Inclusion; CDG Member and then Executive Member since July 2020; and UPF Peace Ambassador and member of Universal Peace Federation and (WW) Women’s World (UPF).
